Analysis and Reporting Enhancements
Tree Map Plot
Even if you haven’t heard of a treemap, you will quickly see why we’ve added this extremely powerful way to quickly get an overview of large datasets. Our fully interactive, configurable treemap allows you to roll-up and break-apart hierarchical data on the fly, zoom into regions of interest, and most importantly, identify important data trends with ease. Just like all our visuals, you can configure the treemap to work interactively with our trend lines, bar charts, maps, and more for rich analytic integration of disparate data sources.
Map Chart
The Map Chart in Spotfire has gotten a significant upgrade. Now Spotfire users can click on regions of interest that have been fully colored to reveal the trends in your data. You’ll have an easier time just getting around your maps with new pan-and-zoom capabilities that are quick and intuitive. And as before, you can even easily traverse different levels of map detail by simply linking map plots together. Setup is easier too: just drag-and-drop a shapefile into Spotfire Professional and you’re off and running.
Error Bars
New Error Bar support in 3.0 gives analysts a tremendous amount of flexibility in visualizing the uncertainty or error in their data. Spotfire can display error bars that dynamically compute the standard deviation or standard error of data on the fly. Or you can simply choose to display pre-calculated error measurements that have been imported with the data. Error bars work on the scatter plot, line chart, and bar chart in Spotfire 3.0.
Print From Web Player
Getting analysis results out of the Spotfire Web Player has been improved. Users of 3.0 now have the chance to export one or all pages of their application in printer-friendly HTML format. Our export APIs have also been significantly enhanced so that it is easier for a Spotfire Developer to customize the headers and footers and other look-and-feel elements of this export, or even create completely new export methods and formats and expose them over the web.
Other Enhancements …
A lot of little things will improve your authoring or analysis experience in 3.0:
Seamlessly Update Data for Active Web Users
Seamlessly keep your web users working with up-to-the-minute data. All you need to do is use our new scheduling interface to decide when application data should be refreshed. The rest just works! For anyone using Spotfire applications over the web, if a data refresh occurs while they are online, their application will seamlessly start using the freshest data without the analyst losing their place in their work.
