Spotfire DecisionSite named a Product of the Year by Scientific Computing & Instrumentation magazine

Readers’ responses over past year drive award for industry-leading analytic applications in Chemistry and BioInformatics

SOMERVILLE, Mass - Driven by the responses of its readership, Scientific Computing & Instrumentation (SC&I) magazine has announced Spotfire’s DecisionSiteTM has been named a Top Product of the Year.

The SC&I award names Spotfire’s DecisionSite as one of five top products in the "Chemistry" category. Complete results, including all winners in all categories, will be presented in SC&I’s annual "Top Products" and "Technology Leaders" issue this month. Earlier this year, SC&I’s annual reader’s poll, which reaches more than 100,000 researchers involved in scientific measurement, gave DecisionSite a 2003 Readers’ Choice Award for bioinformatics.

This latest award is based on a tally done by the magazine’s editorial staff of reader responses to press and editorial coverage over the course of 2003. "Scientific Computing’s Top 5 Products honor those products that generated the most interest and received the highest response from our readers during the past year," said Suzanne Tracy, editor-in-chief of Scientific Computing & Instrumentation.

DecisionSite’s guided visual analysis and collaboration capabilities help over 10,000 chemistry and bioinformatics users in over 300 life sciences companies glean valuable compound and biological insights from the torrent of data being produced daily in their research and operational areas. DecisionSite’s ability to easily connect with any data source and adapt to any analysis process has allowed Spotfire to release pre-configured applications and solutions for a number of disciplines including functional genomics, lead discovery and the rapidly growing, interdisciplinary field of chemogenomics. In addition DecisionSite customers can configure additional analytic applications using the Analysis Builder and DecisionSite Developer Network and tools.

"It is particularly gratifying to receive an award driven by the responses of a readership on the frontlines of analysis and decision-making in some of the world’s most challenging, dataintensive research environments," said David Butler, Spotfire’s vice president of product strategy. "We see this as clear evidence that customers are having success in configuring and applying DecisionSite for a broad range of research analytics."
