Somerville, Mass. ? Spotfire, Inc. (http://www.spotfire.com), a market leader in visual, interactive analytic applications, today announced that BioSystems International (BSI) (www.biosys-intl.com) has purchased its flagship DecisionSite software. BSI has deployed DecisionSite to further its mission of enabling pharmaceutical companies to develop safer and more effective drugs at lower costs and in less time through the use of biomarkers.
Biomarkers are molecular indicators of exposure, disease, or susceptibility to disease. DecisionSite will enable BSI to rapidly process, analyze and integrate screening data from the clinical biomarker discovery and validation research contracts and internal projects. As a result, customer pharmaceutical companies will benefit from rapid delivery of valuable clinical biomarker assays, enabling them to develop more effective drug trials.
BSI has deployed DecisionSite to more effectively investigate and analyze several classes of biomarkers, including:
- Stratification markers that predict the likelihood of a drug response
- Efficacy biomarkers that predict a clinical outcome
- Screening markers for the early detection of diseases
- Prognostic markers to predict the likely course of the disease
"We selected DecisionSite because right out-of-the-box, it delivers a core of visual, interactive analytic capabilities that give us an information advantage in biomarker discovery,” said Laszlo Takacs, BSI CEO. “In addition, Spotfire's professional services customized the solution which enabled us to rapidly deploy the technology within our existing data management processes.”
“Analytics continues to be one of the only areas within information technology that is delivering significant return-on-investment across business units,” said Christopher Ahlberg, Spotfire CEO. “By applying DecisionSite to its biomarker research, BSI can turn an information advantage into a competitive differentiator.”
