Using a 64bit machine with Spotfire

Based on our large data set we were reccommended by Spotfire support to us a 64bit machine.  It has been working great however I am unable to link to any files that contain an access DB

    The error message is this:

    InvalidOperationException at System.Data:

The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine. (HRESULT: 80131509)

Based on the microsoft site i needed to download something, which i did but it sitll didn't work.

I then found this site http://www.clariusconsulting.net/blogs/kzu/archive/2007/11/15/41639.aspx

It basically says that microsoft hasn't developed the download for 64bit machines but there were work arounds.

Is anyone out there using a 64bit machine to run spotfire and successfully attaching to access databases??

Your conclusion is correct: Microsoft does not have a 64-bit driver for .accdb and .mdb files. However, the Office 2010 beta that is available to anyone does have a 64-bit version with drivers and in my informal tests it works fine to access access files from a 64-bit Spotfire client. Give it a shot. I believe Office 2010 is due later this year. Regards, Per

The Spotfire client has been written (using standard .NET functionality) to automatically run as a 64-bit application on a 64-bit operating system.

It should work completely transparently and will provide the ability to address the greater memory volumes available to 64-bit systems.
