Test and Production Areas

Hi,

I am adding TIBCO Spotfire Server address in the Manage Servers dialog box and I have been given couple of Areas , I would like to know on how can I add more areas. Also, what is the Area means? Does this make any difference between selecting Test and Production areas.

Hi john,

the production area is the deployment area, your users normally work with. The test area is for testing new deployments (like plug-ins) you have written yourself before putting them into production.

There is no option to have more deployment areas. Some customers have separate production and test servers to have more freedom to try things out, like patches, updates etc.

Thanks Christof for the information.

How can I move objects or Analysis file between Test and production area of the same server?

If I login as test, can I able to see the objects in the Production Area , to me it looks like Folder concept correct?

Hi John,

The Test and Production areas are for server side deployments of Spotfire patches or additional tools. It has nothing to do with Spotfire analysis files.

If you want to copy a Spotfire deployment from Test to Production, you can do so in the administration console of the server.

What difference it makes when I login from Spotfire Professional to a server by selecting Test and next time to Production? Is it explained anywhere in the document? Thanks,

Hi,

If you have deployed a client patch to the test area, wou will only donwload the patch to your client, when logging into the test area.
