Abstract
A major hard drive manufacturer supplies storage products to leading OEMs, systems manufacturers, selected resellers and retailers. The company places great importance on measuring the field performance of disk drives in order to identify defects in its disk drive manufacturing process. When drives come back from the field, the quality assurance department documents the material makeup and many other performance parameters. This information is then compared with the performance data on disk drives that have no reported problems.
